The Banner of the Citizen's initiative
to preserve the Altar of the Twelve Gods
and of Mercy
Another Court decision further entangles the stage for the re-burial work of the Altar of the Twelve Gods in the section of Metro line, Monastiraki - Thissio. The new Court decision accepted the request of the consortium Aktor SA and Mochlos SA to withdraw the temporary injunction that was issued on 15th April for the "freezing" of the re-burial work but at the same decision rejected the application for injunction's withdrawal that had been submitted by Metro, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Culture.

The application submitted by the Aktor SA and Mochlos SA, to resume the work, was accepted but on the grounds that in the injunction's decision back in April the 15th had not been invited representatives of the consortium. On the other hand, the application for the continuation of project by Metro and the ministries, etc. has been rejected.

Work had stopped after the civil action in Court, seeking to avoid re-burial of the archaeological monument of the Alter of the Twelve Gods.

One Response so far.

  1. James says:

It does seems - at least - that the archaeologists should be given a bit more time to make a study of the area before the area is re-buried; and if it is to
be re-buried it must be done with great care. A campaign (with funding) could then be started for the re-routing of this
section of the green line if a logical solution could be found for its re-routing. (But I must say that the knocking down of Adriannou Street seems looks to my unexpert eyes very unlikely..... )
